McDuck: Forest officials have asked residents of K Venkatapur and other neighboring villages of Pedda Shankarampet Mandal not to venture into forest areas between 6pm and 7am because leopards are present in the area.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ravi Prakash and Forest Range Officer (FRO) Vikas and their team visited the area on Tuesday after leopards attacked livestock in K Venkatapur village on Monday. Forest officials found the leopard’s paw prints in a body of water. The DFO said leopards only come out of their roost at night, which is why people are asked to stay indoors at night. However, officials will be keeping a close eye on the animal’s movements.
Due to the abundance of wild boar and sika deer in the area, Raviprakash said there is little chance of leopards coming out of the forest.
