Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh for next of kin of the deceased and for those injured in Saturday’s Buldhana bus accident on the Samruddhi Mahamarg highway. Personnel provide free treatment.
Shinde has announced compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
“The Chief Minister expresses his condolences to the deceased and his family in this unfortunate incident and announced an assistance of Rs 500,000 per person from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of the deceased,” said an official statement from the CM’s office.
Maharashtra’s chief minister also ordered an investigation into the accident, which killed several people.
The Chief Minister said he was saddened by the horrific accident and has ordered an investigation into the incident.
A total of 26 people were killed in the accident, including 3 children.
The statement further added: “The Chief Minister, while directing immediate help to the victims of the accident, also directed immediate medical attention to the injured at the government’s expense.”
According to police, the driver who survived the crash said the crash was caused by a burst tire that set the bus on fire.
However, the police said that the exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
The accident happened on the Samruddhi-Mahamarg highway at around 1.30am on Saturday.
“Around 1:30 am, the bus from Nagpur to Pune had an accident. The driver said that a tire burst during the accident, causing a fire inside the vehicle. Subsequently, the diesel tank of the vehicle caught fire. Among the dead were 3 One child and the rest are adults. The specific cause of the accident has not been determined,” Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasane told reporters.
According to the police, there were 33 people on board the bus bound for Pune.
