Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao pointed out that Telangana ranks first in the country in many indicators such as per capita income and per capita electricity consumption, but now is not the time to relax or rest on its laurels. Growth momentum should not be diluted or lost.
Speaking to district officials and government employees after the inauguration of the new Integrated District Office Complex (IDOC) and District Police Station in Jogulamba Gadwal on Monday, the Chief Minister said the momentum must be maintained over the next five to 10 years through various years.
In fact, the current momentum is not enough, he said, calling for a bigger boost in the country’s growth rate.
“We want to maintain it at a good level. Telangana will soon be the top of the states in various development indicators. Punjab used to be the number one paddy grower. Today, Telangana has Overtaking Punjab as the largest paddy grower with more than 5.64 million acres planted,” he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao also said that Gadwal will soon be offered a medical school. With this, the former Palamuru district will soon have as many as five medical colleges operating. Once the Gattu Upgrading Irrigation Project is also completed, the district, which is undergoing massive transformation, will be nothing less than a piece of gold, he said, noting that Alampur and Kalwakurthy have also seen significant development.
The Chief Minister who earlier inaugurated the Bharat Rashtra Samithi district office also spoke at a later public meeting which was well-attended.
