Common: A man in robes suspected of being the kidnapper was captured by residents in the Cheruvu Bazaar area of Khammam city on Tuesday and handed over to Shan Township police.
The man, said to be Shaik Ashraf, 25, of Gollagudem in the city, who works as a teacher at a majid in Ricca Bazaar, was spotted moving a two-wheeler wearing a burqa suspiciously in the Cheruvu Bazaar area for the past three days.
A local named Nazema told the media that when the locals tried to grab him two days ago, he escaped from them. He was again spotted talking to a two-year-old boy on Tuesday night, before locals grabbed him, beat him and handed him over to police. Some said he was going to visit a woman’s house in the area.
The defendant removed the burqa and threw it into the sewer after being caught by locals. The vehicle he was found moving had a sticker on it that read police. A town policeman is interrogating him.
