Imphal: A woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside a school in Manipur’s Impal West district on Thursday, officials said.
The woman was shot dead as she arrived to drop off her children at Sishu Niketan School in Mayakoibe, according to officials.
Police and forensic teams rushed to the scene and recovered the body.
Witnesses said the armed men opened fire after the victim’s children entered the school building.

The incident came a day after 4,521 schools in grades 1 to 8 in Manipur state reopened on Wednesday, more than two months after the May 3 violence erupted.
