Warangal CP AV Ranganth made the Maoist couple in front of the media on Thursday.
Warangal: Kasaraneni Ravi Kumar alias Ajit (30) and his wife Madivi Somidi alias Kalpana (25), two members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered before Warangal Police Chief AV Ranganath.
Ravi Kumar is a member of the Divisional Committee and Commander of the Manuguru Local Organization Squad. He is from the former Guntur district and has a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, while Somidi has a reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head. Somidi, a native of Bathinipally village in Bhadradri Kothagudem, is the deputy commander of the Telangana state committee BK-ASR DVC Manuguru LOS.
Ranganath said Ravi Kumar had joined the IFTU after quitting his studies in Inter first year, and subsequently got elected as President Karmika Sangam, Kothagudem Town. “In 2014, he was promoted to Kothagudem division chairman and former Khammam district councilor. While working at PDSU, he used to paste and discard PDSU posters and was involved in five criminal cases,” he said, adding that he was Maoist ideology and approached the late Yapa Narayana (alias Haribhushan) in May 2016.
Since then, he has worked for the banned political party in a variety of capacities. He married Somidi in 2019.
“He was involved in multiple firefights and attacks on police officers in Chhattisgarh and Telangana states,” the CP said, adding that Somidi joined the Maoist political party in 2017. Due to health issues, they decided to join the mainstream by turning themselves in to the police,” CP said.
