East Godavari rural area of Rajamahendravaram mandal records maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius

Amaravati: People in Andhra Pradesh are experiencing extreme heat as the monsoon approaches. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that several parts of the state recorded temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius on Friday.
The East Godavari rural area of Rajamahendravaram mandal recorded the highest temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius. Other mandals in Elluru, Alluri Sutharama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam, East Godavari, Kakinada and Vizianagaram also recorded temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius. Mercury levels rose by 5 to 4 degrees Celsius. Overall, 41 Mandals in the state recorded temperatures above 44C.
However, temperatures dropped slightly on Saturday, with a high of 41C. Anakapalli, Parvathipuram Manyam, West Godavari, Srikakulam and Bapatla all hit 41C.
The IMD forecasts that the monsoon will reach Andhra Pradesh in the third week of June. Until then, however, people in the state have been advised to take precautions against the heat, such as drinking plenty of water, staying in the shade and avoiding strenuous activity.
