New Delhi: Senior Ministers like S Jaishankar, Chief Ministers like Arvind Kejriwal, Bollywood stars like Madhuri Dixit, Shikhar Dhawan Dhawan and India’s top celebrities such as spiritual mentor Sadhguru have joined the just-launched Threads, a Twitter competitor, with more than 50 million signups in two days.
Union ministers including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari joined the newly launched text-based social Media platform Meta Threads.
Notably, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, also joined Threads.
Other union ministers who joined the platform include Pralhad Joshi, Giriraj Singh and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Assam Chief Minister Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Goa Minister Dr Pramod Sawant also joined the platform.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on his official Threads account that Threads, which is considered a direct competitor to Elon Musk’s microblogging site Twitter, gained traction within 24 hours of its launch. 30 million users.

Meanwhile, Twitter is reportedly threatening legal action against Meta over the new app. According to reports, Twitter accused Meta of illegally exploiting Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property, allowing former Twitter employees to develop a copycat app.
“Competition is good, cheating is not,” Musk said in response to a tweet about possible legal action against Meta, which allows users to keep followers on Instagram. According to industry watchers, this is one of the reasons for the platform’s growth.
Rajni Daswani, director of digital marketing at Socheers, believes that while “Threads” has similarities and differences to Twitter, it has a huge advantage in terms of Instagram audience and reach (mainly Gen Z), which will further help reach younger audience.
