Hyderabad: To ensure quality healthcare facilities are available at all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in rural and urban areas of Telangana, the state government will complete the recruitment of nearly 2,538 doctors and nursing staff in the coming weeks.
Telangana Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB) will complete the recruitment of 969 doctors in as many PHCs as possible over the next week to 10 days, while the State Health Board will recruit doctors and paramedics for 1,569 Palle Dawa – khanas in In the next 2-3 weeks in various regions.
“Overall, we will ensure that consultations with an allopathic or Ayurvedic doctor or at least one qualified BSc nursing specialist are available in government hospitals in almost 3,800 villages in Telangana.
The recruitment of doctors was supposed to be completed a month ago but was delayed due to the Munugodu polls,” said state health minister Harish Rao.
Immediately after the vote, the MHSRB released a list of outstanding doctors recruited in 969 primary health centres in Telangana, the minister said, and could prosecute mailed letters in the next two weeks.
“Currently, there are 680 Palle Dawakhanas in the state and recently Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed us to set up another 900 such facilities. Recruitment of doctors for Palle Dawakhanas and PHC will be carried out concurrently and will end as early as possible,” Harish Rao said.
In the past few months, nearly 200 young doctors have been working in the primary care centers in the districts since the school year. Therefore, the state government has decided to expeditiously complete the recruitment of doctors for all primary care centers within the next ten days.
