Hyderabad: A minor crash led to the early end of the Indian Racing League on Sunday at the Hussain Sagar lakeside street circuit in Hyderabad.
Despite a strong field on the second day of the event, the Chennai driver was hit from behind by the Goan driver during qualifying, leaving him hospitalized with a broken bone.
Organizers later said the driver was unharmed. Fans packed the NTR Marg street circuit witnessed the action, albeit briefly, during qualifying.
They did, however, take some action at the scheduled JK Tire National Racing Championship. The race saw Formula 4 cars and the crowd cheered them every time a car passed them.
Concerned for the safety of the riders, organizers postponed the race but did not reveal where the remaining races will be held. The Indian Racing Federation, India’s only motorsport event, Formula E, is scheduled to take place at the same track in February next year.
