Hyderabad: CPI national secretary K Narayana accused the Modi-led government of trying to shut down Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) through its contracting and privatization policies.
He accused that just like a leech sucks blood without causing any pain to the victim, the Modi government is sucking blood from SCCL under the guise of privatization.
Addressing members of the media here on Sunday, the CPI state secretary said the Prime Minister’s visit to Telangana was only a politically motivated visit and did not help any development in the state.
He informed that the prime minister had visited Telangana following the disastrous defeat in the Munugode by-election to ensure that party cadres would not be disheartened by the result.
In 2015, the Mine Mineral Development Regulations were amended to facilitate the handover of coal mines around Godavari to commercial mining.
As a result, Narayana alleges that 240 such mines have been identified to be handed over to private companies, 98 of which have been handed over.
He said a circular was also issued for the allocation of coal mines in Kairaguda, Satupally, Sravanpalli in Mandamarri and Kalyanakani to private companies.
“Ultimately, coal production in New Galini will drop after the mines are allocated to private companies, and the Modi government will succeed in securing the downfall of the company,” Narayana accused.
