Hyderabad: The second phase of the Kanti Velugu program was launched on January 18, and so far more than 1.5 million people in Telangana have been screened for their eyes. Under this initiative, the National Ministry of Health has so far distributed reading glasses to 2.166 million people and identified a total of 17, 41 and 782 people in need of prescription glasses.
The latest Kanti Velugu report on Wednesday said that out of the total of 1, 52, 61, 763 people who underwent eye screening since January this year, about 75% or 1, 13, 52, 870 people had no eye related problems. According to statistics, 11% of beneficiaries screened under the Kanti Velugu initiative required prescription eyeglasses, while 14% received reading glasses on the spot.
