New Delhi: Shocked by the results of his Twitter poll Tuesday, which decided he should step down as CEO, Elon Musk took a U-turn saying only Blue would go forward. Subscribers are required to participate in polls organized by him.
A poll he conducted on Twitter on Monday found that a whopping 57.5 percent wanted him to step down as CEO of the Weibo platform.
“Should I resign as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Tesla’s CEO has said.
When a follower posted that Blue subscribers should be the only ones able to vote in policy-related polls, Musk replied: “Good point. Twitter will make a change.”
One user posted to him: “So basically you’re limiting voting to people who are willing to give you money? This will definitely reduce biased poll results.”
Another replied: “I will abide by the results of this poll. Resign.”
However, despite the outcome, Musk has not offered to resign as Twitter CEO.
The CEO of Twitter has said that in the future, “there will be a vote on major policy changes. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
“Nobody wants a job that’s going to really keep Twitter alive. There’s no successor,” he said Monday.
Last month, Musk said he didn’t want to be CEO of any company, be it Tesla or Twitter.
He made the comments while testifying at a trial in the United States, questioning his controversial pay package at Tesla and saying he did not want to be permanently CEO of Twitter, which he bought in October.
