Nishka Agarwal ends 12-year national gymnastics medal wait for national gymnastics team with victory at 57th National Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

Hyderabad: Nishka Agarwal ended a 12-year wait for a national gymnastics medal by winning the 57th Junior National Gymnastics Championships recently held in Trivandrum, Kerala.
The last time a state gymnast won a national title was in 2011 when Aruna Reddy won the yellow medal. Nishka, 14, is ecstatic about her Virgo title. “I’m so happy that I won my first national championship. Winning this is really encouraging for me,” said the standard nine student at Gaudium School.
Speaking about achieving the feat after Aruna Reddy, the youngster said: “I’m so happy for this feat because Aruna Reddy is like a sister to me. , I watched her train and I thought I was lucky to win a national championship after her, it was like continuing her legacy.”
She won a gold medal in the Egyptian Pharaoh Cup and three gold medals at the CBSE National Games held at Gaudium School, Hyderabad. She also won gold and silver at the National Junior Gymnastics Championships in Jammu Kashmir.
“I started doing gymnastics as a regular fitness training and then I became interested. I took it seriously and with the help of my trainer Manoj (Rana) I am gradually improving my game. I want to win more for the country and the country Multiple medals,” said the Hyderabad girl, who traveled to Israel for advanced training on Saturday.
“It’s a good thing for the national gymnasts. Our gymnasts shine day in and day out in competitions. In the 2024 Olympics, either Aruna or Nishka will be in the national team. Nishka is A very dedicated and hardworking girl. She has that passion and spirit. Nishka will win many more honors in international competitions,” said her coach Manoj.
