Nizamabad: The pace of rice purchase in the whole region has been accelerated. According to the latest data, 1,64,656 metric tons of paddy has so far been procured from 20,239 farmers through 406 centers and shipped to rice mills. Regional collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu said on Saturday that the procurement was still ongoing.
He said officials have been instructed to take various measures so that farmers will not face any problems in purchasing paddy. Officials at various levels are monitoring the paddy procurement process, the collector said.
The collectors directed officials to ensure that paddy is purchased at the minimum support price (MSP), saying that efforts should be made to get better prices for their products to every farmer who brings good paddy to the buying centres.
He also said that officials have been ordered to take measures to ensure that there is no shortage of sacks and provide necessary facilities to farmers at all procurement centres.
