Hyderabad: The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the men’s World Cup fixtures on Tuesday to mark the 100-day countdown. However, cricket fans in Hyderabad were disappointed that no Indian match was scheduled here.
The city will host three neutral matches – two against Pakistan in Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2, and one against New Zealand in Qualifier 2. Hyderabad will also host several warm-up matches.
While smaller centers such as Dharamshala, Pune and Lucknow were given five games each, including the India game, bigger centers Hyderabad were unfairly treated.
The former administrators of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) have blamed it on physical disorganization for their inability to attract big matches. “This is because of the instability of the HCA. Apart from that, Hyderabad has always been a strong contender for all the big games. Unfortunately, the HCA is not acting according to the constitution and Hyderabad cricket is not doing well.” Ex-chairman, HCA , Indian cricketer Arshad Ayub (Arshad Ayub) exclaimed.
“There is no proper representation in BCCI. Earlier, we had Shivlal (Yadav) and I used to represent HCA when I was chairman. Luckily we got three matches. Some big cricket matches though no Indian matches It’s going on, even though it’s a huge disappointment to the fans,” Arshad added.
Former HCA secretary T Shesh Narayan blamed it on confusion in the association and former India captain Mohd Azhruddin. “There is no elected body here, otherwise they would fight for it. We were founding members of BCCI. But because of the chaos created by Azaruddin, the Supreme Court was forced to appoint an administrator to run the show. Why Hai Deraba fans are going to pay for someone else’s mistakes,” he said.
Meanwhile, City fans lamented the prospect of missing out on watching India play. “It is very disappointing not to have an Indian match in Hyderabad during our World Cup. The fans here are very knowledgeable and we are deprived of the chance to watch India play,” said IT employee and cricket fan Kieran West. Kiran Sikha said.
