Odisha train accident: Multiple trains canceled, many diverted; see full list

233 people were killed and around 900 were injured after a major incident in Balasore in Odisha, several trains were canceled and many were diverted as three trains collided

Balasore: Several trains were canceled, many were diverted and three trains collided after a major accident in Balasore, Odisha, killing 233 people and injuring around 900.

Here is a list of canceled trains:

18044 Bhadrak – Howrah Express from Bhadrak, 20890 Tirupati-Howrah Express from Tirupati, 12551 Bangalore – Kamakhya AC SF Express from Bangalore, 12864 Bangalore – Howrah Express from Bangalore, 12253 Bangalore – Bhagalpur Anga Express from Ba From lasore, 08411 Balasore -Bhubaneswar special, 08415/08416 Jenapur-Puri-Jenapur from direction and 08439 (Puri-Patna special from Puri).

Below is a list of diverted trains:
12246 Bangalore – Howrah Express From Bangalore on 02 June 2023 via Naraj-Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda, 12503 Bangalore – Agartala Express From Bangalore on 02 June 2023 via Vizianagaram-Titilagarh-Jharsuguda, 1286 4 Bangalore – Howrah Express departs from Bangalore on 02 Jun 2023 via Naraj-Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda, 18048 Vascoda Gama-Shalimar departs from Vascoda Gama on 02 Jun 2023 via Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur City-Jharsuguda, 15630 Silghat Town-Tambaram Nagaon Express from Silghat Town on 02.06.2023 via Jharsuguda-Sambalpur City-Angul -Cuttack, 07029 Agartala – Secunderabad Express from Agartala on 2nd June 2023 via Jharsuguda -Sambalpur City-Angul -Cuttack , 12664 Tiruchchirappalli -HWH Howrah Express departs from Tiruchchirappalli on 02.06.2023 via Vizianagaram-Titilagarh-Jharsuguda, Kharagpur Division Notification read.

15630 Silghat-Tambram Express, journey commencing June 2, 2023, will operate on diverted route via Asansol-Chandil-Rourkela – Jharsuguda -Sambalpur City-Angul-Cuttack, 07029 Agartala-Secunderabad Express, journey commencing June 2023 commencing on 2nd June 2023, will operate on the diverted route of Bhadrak – Kharagpur – Tatanagar -Jharsuguda-Sambalpur City- Angul-Cuttack, 08415 Jaleswar- Puri Special and the journey will start on 3rd June 2023 and will depart from Bhadrak, 12704 Secunderabad- Howrah Falaknuma Express departure officials said the journey started on June 2, 2023 with a short stop in Bhubaneswar.

Also, 12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Express from Secunderabad on 2nd June 2023 will run to Cuttack and will continue to cancel from Cuttack to Howrah and 18046 Hyderabad – Shalimar East Coast Express from Sea on 3rd June 2023 Depart from Deraba, reschedule for 3 hours.

“Accident rescue trains with medical equipment and doctors have been dispatched to the scene from Kharagpur and Bhadrak, the notification from the Kharagpur department read.

“About 600 injured passengers have been taken to hospitals in Gopalpur, Khantapara, Balasore, Bhadrak and Soro,” it said.

They further added: “Two ARME (medical trains) have arrived at the scene along with 20 doctors and a team of paramedics who are attending to the injured passengers. More doctors and a team of paramedics are also on their way to the scene of the accident. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw arrived at the accident site in Balasore, Odisha on Saturday, assessed the situation and assured a detailed high-level investigation into the accident.

Several carriages of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed near the Bahanaga station in Balasore, Odisha, after hitting a freight train.

According to railway spokesman Amitabh Sharma, the accident happened around 7pm on Friday.
