He started growing oil palm at one of his farms in Cheemala Kondur, Bhongir mandal in the region, saying farmers need to move from traditional methods of growing the crop to profitable farming.
Yadadri-Bhongir: Kancherla Ramakrishna Reddy, chairman of the Federation of Cooperative Oil Farmers of Telangana, said on Friday that planting oil palm will help farmers earn more than any other crop.
He started growing oil palm at one of his farms in Cheemala Kondur, Bhongir mandal in the region, saying farmers need to move from traditional methods of growing the crop to profitable farming.
It has become customary for farmers to grow rice if irrigation facilities are available, and cotton otherwise. Farmers should adopt modern farming methods that increase income.
He said the state government had decided to encourage farmers to grow oil palm to increase their income.
