Hyderabad: The management of Mumbai-based IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited on Monday issued a Rs 1,000-crore defamation notice to BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao after he reportedly accused the company of indulging in corruption to secure a 30-year contract in the Outer Ring Road. (ORR) and its involvement in the murder of an RTI activist. The company has asked Raghunandan Rao to pay Rs 1,000 crore as damages for the loss of reputation and goodwill caused by his false and substantiated defamatory statements.
The company also asked Raghunandan Rao to retract his public derogatory remarks and issue a public apology to the company and its officials. The company warned that if Raghunandan Rao fails to comply, appropriate civil and criminal proceedings will be initiated.
Most recently, Raghunandan Rao accused unnamed officials of IRB Infrastructure Developers of murdering an RTI activist who questioned the company’s actions. “The CBI investigation into the killing of RTI militants proves that the IRB will go to great lengths to silence anyone who questions it,” said Raghunandan Rao.
The company then filed a defamation notice with the BJP MLA.
