Hyderabad: On Saturday, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder laid the foundation stone for the construction of an amphitheater on the Osmania University campus.
The proposed Dr. G Nagaiah Amphitheater will be adjacent to the Tagore Auditorium. Dr. Nagaiah, an OU alumnus who has completed his master’s and doctoral degrees in chemistry, came forward to build the open-air amphitheater.
The oval amphitheater will have a stage and digital screens and an audio-visual system, and the proposed facility is expected to be completed by the end of March. The university is planning to transform areas such as the landscaped gardens, Tagore auditorium and amphitheater into cultural quarters.
Dr. G Nagaiah said that this is a gesture of giving back to his alma mater, which has given him everything in life. Prof Ravinder expressed his delight and praised the donors for their move, saying it was a good start to the preparations for the Global Alumni Reunion on 3 and 4 January.
