Sangaredy: Veda Sechand’s presence will be missed more than anyone by the people of Medak and the political leaders of the region.
For more than a decade, Saichand has been an essential man for all Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) public meetings in the region. The last public meeting he attended in Medak district was a week ago in Patancheru, where Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao spoke after laying the groundwork for the super-specialty hospital. Although Saichand was active in the Telangana movement as a folk singer, his ties with Finance Minister T Harish Rao strengthened after the formation of Telangana.
Not only did Saechand entertain the crowd at public rallies, but he also had his own way of exposing the opposition. Saichand uniquely highlighted the work of the BRS government and the chief minister’s role in Telangana’s campaign and reconstruction, often keeping crowds together for hours until the key guests arrived. BRS leaders have even insisted in the past that he attend constituency-level meetings. This is what is required of him and his connection to the people of the Medak area.
Saichand also played a vital role in the region’s BRS campaigns in 2014 and 2018, with Harish Rao sometimes delaying speeches to see how the crowd reacted to Saichand’s songs.
Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said Saichand had done half what they wanted to do during the public meeting, effectively exposing the lies of the opposition and explaining the BRS leadership’s commitment to the well-being of the people.
Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy said he could not imagine holding a public meeting without Saichand, as he was a member of every public meeting he had organized in the past decade.
The Medak BRS leader said Harish Rao felt the loss more than anyone because Saichand shared such a deep bond with him.
