Hyderabad: The main defendant in the MLA poaching case, Ramchandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, appears to have an interesting past, with an investigation by news site Newslaundry revealing his life before his arrest at a farmhouse near Hyderabad on October 26.
According to Newslaundry, just three or four months ago, Satish Sharma moved into a newly constructed four-storey building in District 31, Faridabad, Haryana, buying a unit for Rs 1.25 crore to 33 Sharma, 28, from Kerala, added that little is known about him except for a video, allegedly from an event in Hyderabad in 2020, showing Sharma talking about the efficacy of cattle Urine, the futility of greed, and why jeans and T-shirts must be given up. Interestingly, Simhayaji from Tirupati was also arrested from the farmhouse with him and can also be seen sitting next to him in the video.
Newslaundry said the video came from a 12-day congregation of the Prophet called “Vajpaye Somayagam” at a resort here in December 2020. A member of resort management and the event organizing team confirmed to Newslaundry that both Sharma and Simhayaji were in attendance.
In the video, Sharma is introduced by a woman as an MTech graduate student and sanyasi at Mangalore University. She said he received sanyas in 2009 at a ashram in Uttarakhand. She also praised his “investment” in the center’s national education policy.
The video shows Sharma telling the rally that he was invited to the event by Simhayaji. He shares his changed outlook on money and says he used to work as an IT professional in Germany. “Before, I used to sit in front of my computer for three or four hours in a row chasing money,” he said. “Right now, I’m trying to avoid it.”
He also claimed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and had two years to live, and went on to say that the boy (himself) went to Pathmeda (in Rajasthan).
“He drank cow urine, bathed with cow urine, morning and evening. Six months later, the boy remembered that he had to check himself again… After the check, the doctor said it was much better.”
He added: “On December 21, the boy was sitting here…in Hyderabad.”
According to Sharma’s new neighbor in Faridabad, he works at a nearby “South Indian temple”. The flat is locked so far, and neighbours say his wife went elsewhere after the “Pandiji arrest”. There were two white SUVs in the parking space on the ground floor, one with a Telangana license plate, the report said, adding that the temple where Sharma worked was about 200 meters from his home.
It is named Shree Krishna and Navagraha Temple and is run by Shree Krishna Sewa Samiti or SKSS. A temple employee said the Samites run “several” temples across India. Sharma was part of an SKSS delegation that met Foreign Minister V Muraleedharan in March, the report said, adding that Samiti public officials said Sharma started working at the temple about a year ago.
