Hyderabad: Rachakonda police reportedly detained a person on Saturday in connection with the Nagole jewelry fire case. The suspect is being questioned by officers of the LB Nagar Central Crime Station at an undisclosed location.
Police sources said special forces identified and arrested him using crime scene surveillance camera footage and the gang’s escape route after committing the crime. The whereabouts of the stolen gold jewelry are unknown.
A total of 15 task forces were set up to identify and capture the attacker in the jewelry store fire incident, which injured two people. The attacker fled on Thursday night with about 3 kilograms of gold.
Officials suspect an interstate gang involving members in their thirties in northern Indian states.
A comparison was also made to a similar type of robbery in Keesara in 2018. Investigators are checking to see if anyone belonging to the gang was involved.
