Collector Sikta Patnaik has released posters related to the inauguration of the renovated Nagoba temple in the village of Keslapur in the Indervelli mandal.
Adilabad: Collector Sikta Patnaik unveiled the poster for the inauguration of the renovated Nagoba temple in the village of Keslapur in the Indervelli mandal on Saturday.
The heads of Mesrams Venkatrao Patel said they had invited Collector Zilla Parishad chairman Rathod Janardhan and MLA Jogu Ramanna to attend the inauguration of the shrine and re-inauguration of the main deity scheduled for December 12-8. He said many of the events of the ceremony would take place over the course of the week. He added that many dignitaries were invited to celebrate the occasion.
In 2018, members of this tribal clan who lived in different parts of the former Adilabad district transferred the deity to an old shrine located in the village to facilitate the restoration of the temple in 2018. They raised Rs 1 crore through contributions from clan members. MP Nagesh pledged to approve Rs 1 crore and additional funds if required during the annual Nagoba Jatara 2017.
The existing temple was built in 1994 at a cost of Rs. 8 lakh, which was raised through donations and financial assistance from the tribal welfare department. Considering the influx of not only tribal but also non-tribal people to the shrine during the annual Nagoba Jatara, Mesrams decided to build a larger temple to replace the existing one.
Mesrams gather in the ancient Sri Nagoba temple to worship their clan god by performing special prayers as part of Nagoba Jatara, an important religious and cultural event for the clan.
