Cota Gooden: The alleged indifference of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to repairing potholes in roads claimed a life in the Polavaram village of Burgampad mandal in the region on Monday.
People have been complaining about the poor condition of large stretches of State Route 30, full of potholes. But the failure of state highway officials to carry out road repairs has left commuters suffering a lot while driving on the road.
In a bizarre accident, an SUV turned into a turtle after it fell into a large pothole on the village’s NH 30. One passenger in the car, Andraju, 30, died after suffering severe bleeding and four others were injured.
Local B Mahesh was informed that in a similar recent incident, several worshippers heading to Bhadrachalam were injured when a four-wheeled vehicle overturned due to a three-foot-wide pothole. He said locals and elected representatives lodged several complaints with officials, but in vain.
