Jaipur: Telugu Talons beat Delhi Armors 26-23 in the handball league match 16 at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium on Thursday. The match was a tough tactical battle, and for the neutral players, it was a delightful match.
Telugu and Delhi started the game at breakneck pace as both teams looked to build a lead. The two teams were evenly matched in the first few minutes of the game. However, Rahul TK made a couple of saves from the Talons goal and his side took the lead.
Naseeb and Kailash Patel were sent off dangerous balls by Davinder Singh Bhullar and scored from the wing, allowing the Talons to extend their lead. Panzers got back into the game and they got into attack as Deepak Ahlawat, Bhupender Ghanghas and Jasmeet Singh scored successive goals to close the gap.
By the 15th minute, the score was 6-5 in favor of the Talons. The pace of the game slowed down from there as both teams wrestled for control of the game, which turned into a tactical battle. The Telugu struggled to build an unassailable lead as the two teams attacked each other. Shortly after halftime, the score became 13-10 in favor of the Telugu Talons.
Delhi Armors came on in the second half, determined to shorten the slender lead held by Telugu Talons. Bhupender Ghanghas, Deepak Ahlawat and Ashok Nain passed the ball smoothly and scored easily. Nittin Kumar Sharma also did his part in the Delhi goal, making some stunning saves as Armor found their way back into the game.
Halfway through the second half, the score was 19-18, and the Talons struggled to find scoring opportunities in the second quarter. However, with the introduction of Talons captain Shubham Sheoran, his team regained control of the game.
Naseeb, Davinder, Anil Khudia and Shubham combined expertly for the Talons in an attack that saw them build a sizeable lead in the final 10 minutes of the game. Panzers seemed to lose steam as the game progressed, while Talons managed to up the ante.
Talons keeper Rahul TK made some great saves in the last 5 minutes of the game to ensure his side stayed ahead. His saves in the game also made him the first goalie in the PHL to make 100 saves. Shortly after the game, the Telugu Talons won 26-23.
Telugu Talons’ Kailash Patel was the team’s top scorer with 7 goals, while Bhupender Ghanghas was the Panzers top scorer with 8 goals. Telugu Talons’ Rahul TK was named Man of the Match for his numerous saves in the match.
