New Delhi: Olympic wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat met Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence to discuss their protest against the boss of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
“They shared their concerns with the home minister. The meeting was long and he listened to everything. But the koi decided nhi hua abhi tak (no decision has been made so far),” a source close to the wrestler told IANS.
Bajrang, Sakshi and Vinesh have led protests by Delhi’s Jantar Mantar wrestlers since April, accusing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing many wrestlers, including minors.
Protesting wrestlers were manhandled and detained by Delhi Police, and their arrangements at the protest site were dismantled.
The wrestlers went to Haridwar claiming they wanted to throw their medals in the Ganges. At the request of many people, they decided to give the medal to the farmer leader to answer the phone.
The wrestlers will soon hold a conference call on where to resume protesting.
