Savarkar’s grandson Ranjit Savarkar says if Rahul Gandhi doesn’t apologize for his remarks, he will complain to the police about Congress leader

Mumbai: VD Savarkar’s grandson has caused fresh trouble for Rahul Gandhi, now demanding an apology from the disqualified MP, in addition to threatening FIR charges over his remarks against the late Hindu ideologue.
“My name is not Savarkar and I will not apologize,” said Rahul Gandhi after he was disqualified as a senator after being convicted by a Surat court in 2019 in a criminal defamation case.
Savarkar’s grandson, Ranjit Savarkar, who is the chairman of Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak, said that if Rahul Gandhi did not apologize for his remarks, he would lodge a police complaint against the Congress leader.
“He (Rahul Gandhi) has to prove that Swatantryaveer Savarkar has apologized to the British for his release from his cell in the Andaman Islands… I have done it in the past (file FIR) and I will do it again,” An excited Ranjit Savarkar told media people.
Rahul Gandhi made the controversial statement a day after he was revoked as a member of the Lok Sabha after a Surat court sentenced him to two years in prison for a defamation case.
Expressing strong displeasure, Ranjit Savarkar also urged former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chairman Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party chairman Sharad Pawar to talk to Rahul Gandhi and demand an apology from him.
Ranjit Savarkar, unhappy with Thackeray and Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut over the past few days for remarks made by Congress leaders, demanded that “they must ask Gandhi to apologize for his remarks on Swatantryaveer Savarkar”.
Ranjit Savarkar also pointed out that when he was the CM of Maha Vikas Aghadi
(MVA) The government, which also includes the NCP and Congress, reportedly took no action when an objectionable article appeared in Congress publication “Shidori”.
“At the time, I asked Thackeray to take care of the matter, but I received no reply and no action was taken,” he said.
Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena-BJP coalition slammed Rahul Gandhi’s comments, while the Sena (UBT) tto condemned the Congress leader in strong terms.
