Shortly after an altercation, he rammed the couple’s bike with the intention of injuring them, police said
HyderabadRaidurgam Police said on Thursday that Rajasimha Reddy, a suspect in the murder and attempted murder of a couple reported earlier this week, was not driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a fit of rage and intent to injure them, he crashed into the couple’s bicycle shortly after an argument, police said.
The suspect, a Jubilee Hills resident, was identified with the help of surveillance cameras at the scene. He was taken into custody and the vehicle involved was confiscated and turned over to the police station.
“We have registered him as murder with attempted murder and investigated. He took a DUI test and it came back negative. He did not drink and drive,” an official said.
Rajasimha Reddy allegedly drove his car over a flooded spot near Durgam Cheruvu in a reckless and negligent manner on Sunday night, splashing water on the bike. Maria Mir (25) and her husband Syed Saifuddin (Syed Saifuddin) on the bike.
Rajasimha and Syed Saifuddin got into an altercation over this, before the former hit their bike with the car behind them.
The injured were taken to hospital, where Maria died Tuesday night while receiving treatment. Saifuddin is key.
