Retired government teacher in Vemulawada transforms his home into a library to promote reading habits among the public

Veeragoni Anjaneyulu Goud established a civil library in Rajivnagar, Vemulawada in memory of his parents.
Hyderabad: Veeragoni Anjaneyulu Goud, a retired government teacher in Vemulawada, converted her home into a library to promote reading among the public. This library is especially valuable for unemployed youth preparing for competitive exams in town.
Goode, who was an English teacher at Sri Raja Jeshwara Sanskrit School, retired in 2009. He has always been an avid bibliophile, covering a wide range of subjects.
Located in Rajivnagar, Vemulawada, 30 years ago, Goud established the Civil Library in memory of his parents, Hanumamma and Basavaiah. To accommodate his growing collection, he added three rooms to his house at a cost of Rs 1 million. His bedroom is also a space for books.
The library holds more than 200,000 books, including magazines in four languages: Telugu, Hindi, English and Urdu. It also provides Hindu religious texts such as the Four Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, and religious books from other faiths, including the Qur’an, Bible, Jainism (Argan) and Sikhism (Guru Granth Sahib ).
Also, according to a notice issued by the state government, the library has become a valuable resource for job seekers preparing for various competitive exams and government vacancies. About 30 aspirants visit the library regularly, studying from 9am to 9pm every day. Goode arranged for individual desks, fans, drinking water and other amenities for their studies.
Goode shared with Telangana today The purpose of his library is to cultivate the reading habit of the public and spread knowledge.
He also emphasized that people can acquire comprehensive knowledge across disciplines through reading. Goud organizes awareness programs that bring in experts to educate students and children on the importance of developing the habit of reading. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Kurnool-based Pathuri Foundation has awarded Anjaneyulu Goud the title of ‘Grandalaya Udyamakarudu’. He has also received the ‘Jeeva Safalya’ award from Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad and the Nandi award from Telugu Velugu, a literacy organization based in Vemulwada.
