San Francisco: Meta announced that gaming platform Roblox is coming to Quest 2 and Pro, with a public beta on App Lab in the coming weeks.
“With an average of over 66 million daily users logging into Roblox, the community spans mobile (iOS and Android), desktop, and Xbox, and we can’t wait to add Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, and (soon to come) Quest 3 will also be in the mix,” Meta said in a Wednesday blog post.
The Open Beta is a great opportunity for the Roblox developer community to optimize existing games for Quest and build new games for virtual reality (VR), while gathering input and feedback from the Quest community.
“This means developers will be able to experiment, learn, and iterate on VR experiences before Roblox is ready for prime time and fully released on the Meta Quest Store.”
With over 15 million active experiences and counting, the gaming platform will provide the Quest community with a vast library of content to explore.
Additionally, the platform automatically ships some experiences that use default player scripts to support VR devices.
“They found that these experiences often worked well in VR without modification, so they built great content into the Roblox VR library from day one,” the company said.
Also, since Roblox is cross-platform, users will be able to connect, play and hang out with friends across Xbox, iOS, Android and desktop.
Roblox on Quest is available to users 13 years of age and older.
Parents will be able to use existing Meta Quest parental supervision tools to help create a level of safety and supervision.
