Washington: Marvel fans received one of the most anticipated announcements of the year. The “Loki” series of time-traveling spins, starring actor Tom Hiddleston, will take place as soon as the producers announce a world premiere date.
According to US-based media company Variety, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has announced the sequel’s official date earlier at Disney on Tuesday. The show will premiere on October 6, 2023, marking the studio’s first second season of the show.
The upcoming season will tell the story of the first season of Loki’s timeline Spiderweb. The series will feature the return of Tom’s co-stars Owen Wilson and Sofia Di Martino. Also expected is the appearance of Academy Award-winning “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star Ke Huy Quan.
Feige did not mention whether actor Jonathan Majors would reprise his role as “Con” in season two. Majors was arrested on March 25 on domestic violence charges and is awaiting a court hearing in June; he has denied the charges, Variety reported.
The sequel is being written by screenwriter Eric Martin and directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead.
The announcement specifically noted that Marvel has largely slowed down its Disney+ launch after launching 11 titles on streaming in 2021 and 2022. Marvel originally planned to launch five live-action shows in 2023.
With “Rocky” season 2, “Echo” and the Samuel L. Jackson series “Secret Invasion” (premiering June 21), “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” spinoff “Hearts of Steel” and The “WandaVision” spinoff “Agatha” parallel: Coven of Chaos’ was also announced earlier for the upcoming year. “Heart of Steel” and “Agatha” are now expected to debut in 2024.
