Rural students now studying in Telangana's top universities

Hyderabad: Students from the remote parts of the state get the same opportunities as urban students to gain admission to top and reputed degree colleges in Hyderabad. Offered by Telangana Degree Online Services (DOST), an online and app-based platform.

DOST has helped more than 5,100 students, mostly from rural areas, to gain admission to top universities including Nizam College, Government Women’s Degree College, Begumpet, Government City College, Hyderabad and Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam (formerly known as Osmanian Women in Coty University) for the 2022-23 academic year.

Of the total admissions, Telangana State Higher Education Commission figures show 1,520 students, mainly from rural backgrounds, joined universities in Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam, followed by 1,415 students who entered government city colleges and 1,294 students Entered 915 at Government Women’s Degree College, Begumpet and Nizam College.

Thanks to the wide range of course portfolios and universities available on the DOST platform, rural students are no longer limited to institutions available in their respective hometowns, but are exploring options and securing admission in their preferred courses in Hyderabad.

In Nalgonda district, DOST helped 114 and 147 students to enroll in Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam and Government City College respectively last year. Likewise, in the 2022-23 academic year, students from remote areas of Adilabad, Nirmal, Murugh, Kumulrambim, Asfabad and Mancherial districts are admitted by the above institutions in Hyderabad. admitted.

Most admitted students are at the top of the intermediate level. Degree admission through DOST is granted on the basis of merit earned in the interim and retention rules.

An important aspect of DOST is to remove geographical barriers, allowing students from remote villages to apply for a degree with the click of a button. DOST enables students to apply to all participating degree colleges without having to travel long distances to obtain and submit applications from different colleges.
