sangaredi: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao says Telangana is a major supporter of the ‘Make in India’ slogan.
As the government encourages Indian industrialists, Rao said Akriti Ocuplasty Logistics is now providing eyewear which will be distributed in the second phase of the Kanti Velugu programme.
The minister said the glasses were brought from China four years ago for the first phase of the Kanti Velugu project. However, Akriti, which has established its property in the medical device park in Sulthanpur, has agreed to supply eyewear for the second phase of Kanti Velugu.
People in Sangareddy can now use eyeglasses made in the region, he said on Friday at the Sangareddy Collectorate’s Kanti Velugu advocacy program, adding that the state needs at least six million pairs of eyeglasses this year.
Talking about the implementation of the programme, Rao said that in Sangareddy district alone, 1.7 million people were screened by 172 teams.
Asking the elected representatives to raise awareness about attending the screening camps launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the minister said officials and elected representatives had until January 18 to carry out awareness programs.
