Hyderabad: Southern Central Railway (SCR) posted its best monthly performance ever in May for both passenger and freight traffic.
Monthly passenger revenue in the region crossed the Rs 500 crore mark for the first time, with origin passenger revenue reaching Rs 5,134.1 crore. The previous highest revenue was Rs 467.82 crore in April. Similarly, the free trade zone completed the original shipment volume of 12.517 million tons in the month, which is also the highest level in history.
The SCR authority said the region carried 26.11 million passengers in May, an increase of 24 percent, compared to 21.12 million in May 2022. The region has been enhancing freight traffic by implementing various initiatives and special measures, a press release said.
