Stalin’s mockery of the Narendra Modi-led regime appears to be aimed at the hype surrounding Sengol, as the scepter is said to symbolize upright governance and upholding justice
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday reacted sharply to police’s detention of protest wrestlers in Delhi and took aim at the center over the issue, saying the “Sengol” installed at the new parliament building at the “Bend” in one day.
Stalin’s taunts about the regime led by Narendra Modi appear to be aimed at the hype surrounding Sengol, as the mace is said to symbolize upright governance and upholding justice. It was installed in the new parliament building on Sunday after Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the building in the capital. Stalin reacted to Delhi police detaining ace wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia for violating law and order in the capital after violating a security cordon as they attempted to travel to the new parliament building for a planned women’s “Mahapanchayat”.
Stalin said months had passed since the female wrestler brought charges against the BJP lawmaker, but the saffron party leadership had not taken action against Singh. “Police detaining them after dragging them away is reprehensible. It shows that Sengol bent his knees on the first day. Such atrocities should also happen when they shunned the president and the opposition boycott on the inauguration day (of the new parliament building). Is it fair?”
