Sidi Pete: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) jointly foiled an attempt by a man to sell his two sons in Mallupally village, Mirudoddi Mandal, on Friday.
According to information from locals, Child Protection Officer Raju, a social worker from DCPU Rajaram, another social worker from Sishu Gruha Anitha Rani, and Counselor Narasimhulu visited Mallupally. After speaking with Sarpanch Bharathi Goud, they learned that Paneti Pochaiah was negotiating with some people to sell his two sons. His oldest son, Goutham, is 3 years old and his youngest son, Tharun, is 18 months old. During the investigation, Pochaya said his wife, Renuka, had left him a few months earlier because of an argument. Due to his illness, Pochaya told officials he was unable to care for the two children.
After unsuccessful attempts to track down Renuka, he decided to give them to a childless couple.
After notifying the same CWC, the rescue team rescued the two children and transferred them to the government hospital Siddipet for health checks. They will then be transferred to Sishu Gruha in Sidipet. In a statement, child protection officer Lamu warned people they would face criminal prosecution if they bought or sold children. He advised childless parents to contact the CWC and follow the guidelines to adopt.
