Hyderabad: A 5 MW floating solar power plant built on the site of the Singareni Thermal Power Station in the Mancherial district will be commissioned on January 15. The company is also working to start generating power from another 10 MW floating solar farm by March.
Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) chairman and managing director N Sridhar issued the order in this regard at a generation review meeting on Friday.
At the same time, as part of the construction of the third phase of the solar power plant, the company has decided to build two floating solar power plants with a capacity of 15 MW on the 3 TMC reservoirs of STPS. In addition to this, the chairman has given officials until July to complete four more plants with a capacity of 66 megawatts.
Over the past two years, Singareni Collieries has installed solar power plants at eight sites with a total installed capacity of 219 MW. To date, these plants have successfully generated 505 million kilowatt-hours. So far, the company has saved Rs 300 crore through these solar power plants.
