New Delhi: According to official media reports, at the invitation of Umbirla, Speaker of the Mongolian Great Hural (Parliament), the Speaker of the Lok Sabha led a delegation from the Indian Parliament to visit Mongolia from July 6 to 8, 2023.
The parliamentary delegation visited Mongolia again after seven years. This is the return visit of the Mongolian parliamentary delegation since the Indian parliament received the Mongolian parliamentary delegation to visit India in December 2021.
The delegation included MPs Rajesh Verma, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Narain Dass Gupta, Rebati Tripura and Shri Pabitra Margherita and Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha. The visit will help maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Mongolia, the press release said.
During the visit, the Speaker of the People’s House will receive a grand welcome from the Speaker of the Great Hural State Zandan Shatar Gombojaf at the Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar.
The delegation will call on Mongolian President Khurelsukh and conduct a bilateral parliamentary dialogue with the speaker of the host country, Zandan Shatar Gombojav.
Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun-Erdeni Rusannanrai plans to meet with Speaker of the House of Representatives Om Birla.
As the visit coincides with the beginning of the Naadam celebrations that mark the start of the Mongolian New Year, Birla and the delegation had the rare opportunity to attend a small Naadam celebration hosted by the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament, Zandan Shatar Gombojav. release.
The delegation will visit places of cultural and historical significance as well as the headquarters of the refinery project financed by a $1.23 billion soft loan from the Export-Import Bank of India. The refinery project is India’s single most important development in Mongolia and is critical to Mongolia’s energy security.
Birla will present the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Award to Mr. Khamba Nomun Khan Choijamts Demberel, Abbot of Ganden Monastery, the highest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. The ICCR awarded the 2022 Buddhist Studies Promotion Award, according to the press release.
The delegation plans to visit Petubu Monastery, where the Speaker and the delegation will lay flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. They will then interact with the Indian community in Mongolia on July 6th.
