Warangal: Police investigating the leak of SSC Hindi test papers plan to question the administrators of the WhatsApp group where the test papers were shared on Tuesday. According to police sources, the accused mainly reposted the paper in two WhatsApp groups named “SSC 2019-2020” and “Srinu Friends”.
The second defendant, Booram Prashanth, who was a long-time photographer for the Telugu channel, shared the paper in the “Srinu Friends” group run by Bodige Srinivas under the pseudonym Srinu. Since the group included both working and former journalists, the paper spread widely among other WhatsApp groups and caused panic among parents of students taking Hindi exams. Meanwhile, the fifth defendant, Shiva Nagesh, classified the paper under the group ‘SSC 2019-2020’. In light of this, the police are planning to record the statements of the administrators of the two groups. The two WhatsApp groups were also mentioned in the remand report.
“While it is common and acceptable anywhere for journalists and others to run WhatsApp groups to share news and alerts, the platform should not disseminate information that could cause confusion, unrest and fear in the public. It is the responsibility of administrators to ensure that messages/information No harm will be done to innocent individuals or to government systems. In this case, the administrator of a WhatsApp group run by a photographer doesn’t seem bothered by the repercussions,” said an advocate.
At the same time, some reporters of the organization said that the organization has repeatedly spread offensive and unwelcome information and photos in the group.
Warangal Police Chief AV Ranganath said in an interview with “Telangana Today”: “We will notify everyone who shared the photo of the test paper. Their statements will be recorded.”
