Yadadri-Bongir: Health Minister T Harish Rao said on Tuesday that the number of dialysis centers in the state has increased from just three to 102 and five million dialysis cycles have been completed since the establishment of Telangana.
Together with Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, the Health Minister opened a five-bed dialysis center at the Choutuppal Primary Health Center (PHC) in the district.
In his speech, he said Telangana is leading the country in providing dialysis facilities for kidney failure patients. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has also decided to set up a dialysis center in his state after inspecting the dialysis centers in the state, he added that the five-bed dialysis center in Choutuppal was established at the request of MLA Koosukuntla Prabhakar in Munugode Reddy.
Harish Rao has secured the establishment of a palliative care center for cancer patients in Choutuppal and said a 100-bed hospital will be opened in Munugode soon. Noting that the center has not approved a medical college to Telangana, the minister pointed out that the BRS government has set up medical colleges in Suryapet and Nalgonda in the former Nalgonda district. It also handed over the land to the center for the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). However, the center failed to provide minimum facilities for AIIMS students in Bibinagar. Meanwhile, the state has established eight medical colleges in Telangana in one year and will set up eight more in the coming year.
Later, Harish Rao, who opened a 30-bed Community Health Center (CHC) in Marriguda, said the state government had improved the quality of medical facilities in government hospitals with the goal of achieving “Arogya (healthy) Telangana”. As part of this, he said, doctors and hospital staff were being recruited and also pledged to provide free ambulance facilities to patients from Government General Hospital in Nalgonda to Hyderabad hospitals when critical cases needed to be treated.
The meeting was attended by Errolla Srinivas, Chairman, Telangana State Healthcare Infrastructure Development Corporation, Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Member of Rajya Sabha, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Commissioner of Vidhya Vidhana Parishad, among others.
