Hyderabad: Industry Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday reiterated the state government’s commitment to revive the Nizam sugar mill, reminding that a team led by then Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy had visited Maharashtra to study the mill’s functioning.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has publicly stated in Parliament that the state government is committed to revive the Nizam sugar mill. He wants the factories to operate along the lines of cooperative sugar factories, as Maharashtra farmers are doing.
Responding to a question from Congress MLC Jeevan Reddy, the Chief Minister even wanted Jeevan Reddy to be chairman and even pledged Rs 250 crore to revive the factory, Rama Rao told a press conference here.
The BRS government has revived the Sirpur paper mill and is working to revive the AP Rayons mill, which was out of operation due to losses and other reasons.
“Negotiations with the ITC are ongoing in this regard and there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
Land prices in Telangana have risen sharply and the state government could have sold the factories like the coalition did, but that is not a priority for Telangana, he said.
“We see them as job creation units, revenue streams and assets of the government, not real estate assets,” Rama Rao said.
April 27 BRS Founding Day
KT Rama Rao, Chairman of BRS Works, said that the founding day will be celebrated on April 27. Under the leadership of BRS Chairman and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS Inauguration Day celebrations will be celebrated in Telangana Bhavan.
On the same day, the party’s plenary meeting will also be held.
Constituency level meetings will be held in all constituencies and these meetings will be held on April 25 under the auspices of party leaders and constituency MPs.
He said that during the meeting, apart from the current political situation, there will be dialogue and discussions on the state government’s welfare and development plans. The BRS working chairman said the party’s Atmeeya Sammelans were held across the state and the response was good, saying that in some places they were organized like public meetings with large numbers of participants.
