T-Diagnostics has completed 650 million free medical tests since launch

A total of 51 different tests are offered to patients through T-Diagnostics.

Hyderabad: The state government’s Telangana-Diagnostics (T-Diagnostics) program, which aims to provide medical diagnostics services to economically weaker sectors of government hospitals, has conducted a staggering 64.6 million tests since the state launched.

In order to enhance diagnostic services and in the process reduce out-of-pocket costs for poor patients receiving medical services at government hospitals, the state government started in 2017-18 to launch T-Diagnostic Central Laboratory Centres, PHC, ( Community Health Centers) CHCs, districts and district hospitals, using a hub-and-spoke model.

Between 2017 and 2018, a total of 20 high-end central laboratories (centres) were established in phases at a cost of nearly Rs 7.6 lakhs and each prefabricated laboratory covers an area of 2,400 sq ft.

The 20 districts where the Central Drug Laboratory Centre is located include Hyderabad, Siricilla, Mahbubnagar, Gadwal, Vikarabad, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Medak, Nalgonda, Jangaon, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Adilabad, Nirmal and Asifabad.

Patient samples are collected at lower level medical institutions such as Basthi Dawakhanas, Palle Dawakhanas, PHC, CHC and some regional and district hospitals and transported to the nearest T-Diagnostic central laboratory (centre) for testing. A similar centralized diagnostic laboratory at the Institute for Preventive Medicine (IPM), operating on a hub-and-spoke model, is NABL accredited.

A total of 51 different types of diagnostic tests are available to patients through T-diagnostics. In May, the state government also launched a special T-Diagnostic mobile app that allows patients to track their medical reports, including during early access, from their smartphones.
