Explosion at fireworks factory Saturday kills two and injures two

Chennai: Two people were killed and two others were injured in an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing factory in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu state, on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as V. Thangavelu (55 years old) and P. Karuppuswamy (28 years old), both residents of Idaiyankulam village, Virudhunagar district.
The injured – Karuppammal (54 years old) and R. Marithai (45 years old) have been taken to Sivakasi Government Hospital.
The installation is owned by Praveenraj of Sivakasi and licensed by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization.
The incident occurred when workers were making cookies in the shed while Karuppuswamy and Thangavel were filling chemicals that make ground chakras, police said.
Explosions occur due to friction.
Two workers died at the scene.
