Amaravati: The ban was imposed in the town of Marcherla in Parnadu district after clashes between ruling YSR Congress workers and Telugu Desam party cadres during a rally organized by opposition parties.
TDP claims its leaders’ vehicles and houses were set on fire by YSRCP workers.
A video of a mob beating down people has gone viral.
Planadu Police Superintendent Y Ravi Sankar Reddy said police took immediate action to disperse the clashing mob.
Police launched a search operation early this morning after receiving information that some people involved in the murder were taking refuge in the town of Marchala.
“There are factional-related issues in this (conflict). These factionalists join one or another political party and gain support. During the Idem Kharma Rashtraniki programme, people from one side try to provoke members of the other. There is also stoning.
The other side retaliates. From any point of view, these conflicts have nothing to do with political differences, but factional discord,” SP said.
The town has deployed more troops and implemented Rule 144. He added that the situation was under control.
Cases will be registered against all perpetrators and investigations are ongoing.
TDP Supreme Leader N Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the alleged attack on his party staff.
“I strongly condemn the attack by YCP thugs on the Machala TDP team and the incident of setting fire to the party leader’s house and party office. Worse, the police are bragging about the brutality of the ruling party,” he posted on Friday night. Tweeted.
In another tweet, he questioned what the police were doing when YSR party “thugs” indulged in “anarchy”.
