Sangaredi: A private school teacher was arrested on Sunday for sexually harassing a Year 9 schoolgirl in the town of Sangaredi.
The girl’s parents approached police on Saturday night, according to Sangaredi Township Police. After questioning the management and the victim’s classmates, the police found that the girl’s allegations were true.
Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists staged a protest in front of the DEO’s offices when schools opened on Tuesday, demanding that the state government remove its recognition of the school’s lack of oversight of such teachers. The students also claimed that despite the teacher’s record of bad behavior, the school’s management allowed him to continue his classes.
Police say teachers have also misbehaved with students in the past in class. A POCSO case against him has been registered.
