Telangana: 600 dedicated beds for mother and baby care at a cost of Rs. 4.9 billion

Hyderabad: In another major step in providing super specialized healthcare services for mothers and babies, the Telangana state government is developing 600 specialized beds in and around Hyderabad at a cost close to Rs 10 lakh. 4.9 billion.

As part of these efforts, State Health Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 200-bed state-of-the-art Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Center at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). .

“We want to make Telangana the number one state with the lowest maternal mortality ratio in the country. Currently, we are in third place and in the next few years, I believe the development activities that are going on now will make Telangana Be the best in India,” said Harish Rao.

Most maternal deaths in Telangana occur before they even reach super-specialized hospitals. To address this gap, maternal health services are becoming part of multi-specialty teaching hospitals such as Gandhi Hospital and NIMS.

In the next year or so, NIMS Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and a stand-alone facility in Alwal will be completed as three MCH healthcare facilities with a total capacity of 600 beds.

On Tuesday, Harish Rao also opened a free 100-bed dialysis facility at NIMS for chronic kidney disease patients. Earlier, NIMS had 45 dialysis beds, but now it has 100 beds, which can provide dialysis services for at least 1,500 kidney patients every day.
