Ministers S Niranjan Reddy and P Ajay Kumar inaugurated the new warehouse on Friday at Raghunathapalem mandal in Khammam district.
Common: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said Telangana had witnessed continued growth in agricultural production, while states ruled by Congress and the BJP were reversing the situation.
With the pro-agricultural measures taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, agricultural output has multiplied. Before 2014, Telangana’s agricultural output was only 6.2 million tonnes, but last year it produced 3 million tonnes of paddy alone, he said.
On Friday, he, along with Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, built three warehouses with a combined capacity of 20,000 metric tons on 5 acres of land at Jinkalagudem, Raghunathapalem mandal in the district at a cost of Rs 149 crore.
Niranjan Reddy said no new warehouses have been built in any state of the country. Telangana is the only state where new warehouses are being built due to higher agricultural output. Punjab and West Bengal have witnessed a decline in production status while states like MP and Maharashtra have maintained the same production level. Telangana is utilizing the largest agricultural land with 1.46 million acres of arable land.
Although the United States, European countries and other countries have large agricultural lands, their agricultural production has declined. They rely on food imports, while India, which has about 400 million acres of agricultural land, can produce and export food.
Khammam farmers produce cotton in the Yasangi season and Adilabad farmers produce apples, proving that Telangana can play an important role in the country’s agricultural production and the land in the state is suitable for all types of crops,
Niranjan Reddy said the Modi government had not built a single irrigation project in the past eight years, while Telangana had spent close to Rs 1.5 lakh on irrigation projects.
He informed Yasangi Rythu Bandhu that the amount will be credited in December and steps will be taken to forgive the crop loan in the coming days. At the request of Ajay Kumar, the Minister approved Rs. 2.5 lakhs for internal CC roads for new warehouses.
In his speech, Ajay Kumar thanked Niranjan Reddy for allocating funds to build warehouses for the benefit of farmers. He said farmers in the Khammam area of old were known for their diverse crops, their love of farming and their production of high-quality cotton and chilli.
