Civilian ranker Grandhe Sai Krishna was congratulated by scouts and guides and members of the chamber of commerce in Kothagudem on Tuesday.
Kota Gooden: Grandhe Sai Krishna, a BTech graduate from the town of Kothagudem, passed the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC and achieved an All-India rank of 293.
He quit a lucrative job with L&T for two years to prepare for UPSC exams. He went to school in Kothagudem, took his intermediate courses in Vijayawada and completed his B Tech in NIT-Calicut, Kerala. In an interview with the media, he said that he has studied 10 hours a day for three years without going to any coaching center. He said he checked the exam papers posted on the UPSC website, bought books online and conducted the exam online.
In his fourth attempt, Sai Krishna cracked civilization. In the past three times, he passed the prelims and mains, but failed to attend the interview. Coming from a middle-class family and getting 293 in UPSC was a happy moment, he said.
In his fourth attempt, he took the May 2022 preparatory exam and scored 120 out of 200. In Delhi, a half-hour interview was conducted by a panel of five members. He explained that the interviewer asked about his habits, work, test preparation, sports and more.
Sai Krishna said the support of his family has been tremendous and helped him obtain AIR 293. “Even though I quit my Rs 50,000-a-month job and sat at home preparing for citizenship, my parents provided all kinds of support,” he said.
His father, Grandhe Srinivas, was a hotel manager in Kothagudem, and his mother, Nagalakshmi, said they were delighted with the news that their son had passed the civil interview and received AIR 293. He was congratulated by Scout and Guide member L Srinivas and members of the Chamber of Commerce.
