Hyderabad The Palamuru area, once known for its sparse population and mass exodus, has now become a hub of major economic activity, IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao said on Saturday.
The minister, who participated in a series of projects during his visit to the Mahabubnagar district, said the transformation of Mahabubnagar was entirely due to the special relationship Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had with the people. His determination to address poverty and backwardness in this part of the state led to a series of programs.
It has been well proven that Chandra Shekhara is now synonymous with water, canals and reservoirs. Today, Palamuru is full of life and crops. It is also rapidly becoming an industrial hub. People in the area stopped migrating to make a living. Now the reverse is happening, with the region witnessing an influx of workers from other countries.
“During a recent visit to Gadhwar, I had the opportunity to interact with people in the workplace,” he recalls, many of them from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh.
“Gone are the days when people migrated from the local area to Raichur and Mumbai. Agriculture, hitherto seen as a bane, is now once again seen as a paid activity by farmers thanks to state government support,” he said .
Rama Rao compared Telangana to other states, which he said all had a chief minister. But here is a Chief Minister who made the country. His government has always been friendly to farmers. BRS is also representing Bharat Rythu Samiti today, he said, adding that the pending projects were converted into active projects.
“We are building Karivena Reservoir and Uddhandapur Reservoir near Divitipally with a total storage capacity of 33 TMC which is 33 times that of Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad. This will be needed to support people finding jobs in the area once the proposed industrial units start production part of the infrastructure,” he said.
He also severely criticized TPCC chairman A Revanth Reddy and BJP leaders for their tirade against the Chief Minister. The former regime in the undivided country used to deliver water every two weeks in towns such as Mahabubnagar. But he added that nowadays people are happy about the increased water supply.
